Improving the treatment of cancers with proton therapy using proton imaging "is the motivation of a working group that formed within LabEx Primes at the Creatis laboratory. This innovative technology still in the development phase could complement conventional imaging to provide more accurate anatomical information. The group is made up of a researcher, a lecturer, a post-doc laureate Marie-Curie, a doctoral student and a postdoc, the last two being funded by the Foundation for Medical Research. The research covers several interdisciplinary themes between acquisition systems, modeling of physical processes and mathematical and algorithmic methods. In 2018, the group organized an international workshop at the Léon Bérard Lyon Center, which attracted 40 world experts from the field. The group maintains a network with researchers from several national and international institutions, including the Lyon Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Orsay Proton Therapy Center, the Maastro Clinic in the Netherlands, the Proton Therapy Center in Krakow, Poland. as well as the University of Rome La Sapienza
