Training in the LabEx PRIMES
The training component of the PRIMES project makes it possible to complete the university offer associated with medical physics and life imaging at COMUE Lyon / Saint-Etienne, Grenoble and Clermont-Ferrand. For example, a practical room for learning the physical basis of different imaging modalities has been set up. The project also provides overseas mobility opportunities for PhD students, symposia and summer schools open to students as well as high-level training sessions in Radiation Physics, Multimodal Imaging (MRI, US , XRay, Optique) or simulation techniques developed by LabEx partners.
The teaching platform is accessible to students from the various initial courses of Lyon / Saint-Etienne. Its implementation was done in close collaboration with the WP research to develop the expertise of students and promote their future integration into public research or industry. For example, the use of GATE (already taught in physics and medical physics classes) and the VIP platform can increase a student's professional interest in the TPS or imaging industry where these achievements are greatly appreciated. Indeed, learning GATE allows students to become familiar with different imaging modalities, to better understand their respective advantages and disadvantages and to better understand the trade-off between dose and image quality. These techniques also allow them to analyze a computer processing plan including several types of beams (photon, electron, proton, carbon, etc ...).
We have so created the first national platform of practical work combining MRI, ultrasound, optical and X-ray techniques and simulation and reconstruction techniques in one place.
